The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced that the global economy is performing “better than feared,” projecting growth of 3.0% in 2025 and 3.1% in 2026. The Fund credits this resilience to adaptive fiscal policies, stabilized supply chains, and a moderation in trade tensions.
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva noted that while inflation pressures persist in some regions, the overall outlook has improved thanks to stronger consumer demand and technological investment across sectors.
For small and medium-sized enterprises, the IMF’s forecast signals a cautiously optimistic environment. A stable global economy can support stronger export demand, more predictable financing conditions, and gradual easing of borrowing costs. However, SMEs should continue to plan conservatively, maintaining flexibility to navigate regional uncertainties such as commodity price swings or currency fluctuations.
