AI May Revive Venture Capital in Consumer Tech
16 Sep

Venture capital in consumer tech has been weak over the past few years — 2024 marked the lowest level of funding in nearly 7 years. Now, optimism is returning as AI shows potential to spark a turnaround.

Firms such as Premise Venture Partners, Parable, and Hobart Ventures are directing more capital into consumer startups that embed AI — including AI assistants, image generation platforms, wearables, and apps built on new models of user interaction.

The opportunity lies in delivering AI-driven consumer experiences that are scalable, engaging, and monetizable. Still, hurdles remain: monetization is difficult, Big Tech competition is fierce, and customer acquisition is expensive. Yet, investors argue that with unique products and strong business models, consumer tech could be on the verge of resurgence.
